A Man and an Orchestra is the second studio album by the Absolutely Years, an innovative band from
West Yorkshire, UK.
The album consists of twelve tracks of total duration of 48 minutes. All the tracks contribute to a common idea that
goes through the entire album; the album depicts the life of an average person living in the «developed»
part of the world today. A carefree and dreamy childhood is followed by the need to conform to the «standards»
set by the society: to pick a career, to continuously do something for someone to prove that you are worth «your position»,
to spend the life showing others that you are «like all of them», or — if you are lucky — that you are higher than they are.
Involved into this virtual race, the protagonist makes good progress in their career, reaching the highest peaks.
However, at some moment they find themselves alone in the world, having lost all the things and people they used to value in former times.
Overwhelmed by this discovery, they try to correct the situation and get their life back.
You can read more about the album background on the Behind the music page.
